The first post
Hello.
Let me introduce myself. I live in a really small town in remote southern Utah--Escalante. I am not originally from Utah. I am from Kansas. I am not Mormon.
I am starting this blog for two reasons. One, the nature of the town I live in is changing, and quickly, and it should be documented because it IS interesting. Two, it is stressful to put yourself into a place where you will not necessarily be welcomed, because of your background, or to start your own business which will not necessarily be supported by local folks.
That being said, the little town in which I live makes for some real interesting drama...lots of good gossip, and even better story-telling. I have many stories to tell, and I suppose all the time (and space) in my imagination to tell them to you here. I'm just getting used to the blog format right now; I'll save the stories for future postings.
Please stay tuned to the Canyon Country Journal. It's not just about land...it's about people and the way they live on it.
